Chargers look to add a spark to this season By Mykell Mathieu
The Los Angeles Chargers wrap up training camp with one thing on their minds -- the playoffs.
In a very competitive AFC West, the Chargers are looking to compete and bring home their first division title since 2009.
Coach Brandon Staley and Los Angeles missed the playoffs when they lost their last game of the year against the Las Vegas Raiders. The team is looking to take a step forward after the pain of how their season ended.
Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert will lead a star-studded offense on the field, but the defense may be the part of the team that puts them over the top.
The addition of starscornerback J.C. Jackson and linebacker Khali Mack has Charger fans excited about the defense that will step on the field this year.
Second-year cornerback Asante Samuel Jr. believes the team will be ready for all top-notch offenses because they practice against one daily. “It makes us better going against one of the best quarterbacks in the league and three of the best receivers in the league.”
Cornerback Michael Davis agrees, “I think our offense is one of the better offenses in the league, so it’s best on best. We have our days, and they have their days.”
It will take great performances from all 3 phases for the Chargers to become the team many expect this year, but with the talent on this roster, it’s genuinely playoffs or bust.
